What you have to do to
Shoot for the CAA
Fellow archers,
The process for selecting the Cambridgeshire squad has changed for 2012. The one day trial process
that has been used in previous years will no longer take place and selection will be made using a
selection committee. The selection process will take into account long term performance over a
period of a few months. This has been introduced so that potential county archers are not penalised
for not being able to attend on the day of a county trial and it is hoped that the new selection process
will motivate all archers to aim to be on the county squad.
The new selection committee will comprise of the Team Manager, CAA Records Officer and two other
club members. The selection committee will be looking at current scores achieved (indoors and outdoors)
along with potential for the future.
If you wish to be considered for the Cambridgeshire squad you need to
i. hold a 1st class ( or above ) classification
ii. fill in the on-line CAA team application form
iii. submit scores from competitions to:  team.manager@cambridgeshirearchery.org
iv. ensure you are available for the county competitions: dates will be published on the CAA website as
soon as they have been confirmed.
Team selection will be made 4 weeks prior to a competition and applicants will be informed as to the
selection outcome by email. The prime source of information for the selection committee will be
competition results that have been submitted and any CAA records. However, commitment and
potential will also be taken into account.
Those archers selected for the CAA squad will be asked to attend two of the county coaching sessions,
seminars or events which are planned to run every month throughout 2012. This is intended to bring
the squad together as well as showing commitment to the CAA.
Please note that being part of the team in previous years does not entitle you to a place on the squad.
An archers performance changes throughout the season, and this will be taken into account
Some archers may not have had the opportunity to take part in many competitions this season and
therefore there will be a 'Start of the Season Shoot'. This competition will be a National round  and
will take place on the 22nd April at the Jolly Archers club. It is an excellent opportunity for all archers
to show their potential and especially for those who wish to be considered for the county squad.
This is a new process and there will inevitably be teething problems in this first year.

Yours,
Sean Fox
CAA Team Manager
